Embedding Oral Language Across the Curriculum
Alexandra Park Event Centre
Greenlane West Rd (next to ASB showgrounds)
Greenlane, Auckland
Saturday 18th March, 2017:  9-1pm
Sheena Cameron and Louise Dempsey

A really good presentation that confirmed I am on the right track with developing strong oral language experiences in the classroom. My focus will be on encouraging students to add more detail to sharing news, story telling and written stories. I will also trial giving the students the opportunity to speak/share information without putting their hands up all the time - hopefully they will learn to take turns in speaking and listening.

For example: In the classroom when children are presenting home learning challenges. I question them further to "tell us more" to encourage them to add more detail to their oral presentations. We have also had class conversations about the importance of listening during conversations and taking turns to speak.
